| I am the owner and artist/designer of Terra Pax Studio, working as a full-time glass artist and painter in the Greater Los Angeles area. My images celebrate the beauty and peace found in Nature, interpreted with a fresh, contemporary vision. My professional qualifications include: |
| I am actively pushing the applications of art glass and painting, using material and color to induce a reflective mindset that encourages the awakening of spirit and self awareness. My current work explores the delicate internal connection between innocence and maturity, and our relationship within and to the natural world around us. In this effort, the media of glass and paint cross their traditional boundaries and meet in a magical midland where realism melts into a modern-impressionistic landscape that I call "Childheart". In this world, the glass represents the adult and the paint is the inner child. This glass realm is created with fusing, slumping, kiln carving, mold casting, and pate de Verre. The child is evidenced with fritography and the application of glass paints, paper and enamels. Many of the pieces are infused with inclusions such as dichroic coated glass, copper, and fusible paper. After firing, the glass may be cold worked by cutting, sand blasting, copper foiling, or Dalle de Vere casting. The painted kingdom is brushed with acrylics, oils, water, nail polish, holographic crystals and acrylic powders. The adult is allowed an audience by the addition of glass frit, dichroic glass, and mosaic overlays. Each world mirrors the other, striving to repair the bond that brings us back to ourselves . |
